This week on the mix we have local Belfast DJ and Glass resident, Däïre. As usual we asked a bit about the mix and what he’s been up to recently…

I’ve really been enjoying DJing recently, had my first gig a year ago and since then I’ve had the opportunity to support some excellent artists. I recently became a resident of a night called Glass in Belfast which normally happens in the Menagerie. Been working on production for a good few months now just trying to get my head around Ableton, hopefully this develops further next year.

The mix was recorded from my home in Belfast using CDJ 850s and a xone 23c.  

I get very easily bored of mixes that have a very gradual progression. When I’m recording mixes I like to think of them as more of a movie soundtrack, where each tune plays a different scene and there can be a dramatic beginning and a euphoric end. Generally depends on my mood on the day. 

The opening for example is a sample from 2001: A space odyssey, my favourite movie which is mixed into a song from one of my close friends Patrick Carser. 

I thought it was important to include a variety of Northern Irish artists in my mix, hence the Defekt retribution remix from Cromby and Carlton Dooms Necrodancer (both unbelievable tracks). Love mixing breaks & electro at  the minute but my taste is constantly changing so I feel that each mix I record is a snapshot of my tastes at that time. 

It’s important to me to include a variety that doesn’t bore the listener, so hopefully that comes across in my mix.

As I said hopefully I’ll release some of my own music in the next year. Glass have some bookings in mind for next year which I’m really excited to bring to Belfast. But my main goal for the upcoming months/ years is to play AvA festival in my hometown.
