Next up on the FMB podcast series we have the Dutch duo L’Atelier. Paul and Gijs have been busy doing what they do best in Amsterdam, so we’ve been looking forward to bringing them over to the blog with their selection. As usual we caught up with them to ask what they’ve got on the horizon and what they have been up to…

ADE was pretty heavy but really good to see a lot of friends from everywhere; from Belgium to South Africa and everywhere in between.

It’s always amazing to see our city at its best during these days. We’ve also been digging, finding and exchanging a lot of new music.

Recently we started working with Taco as our new booker from the ZeeZout team which is starting to shape up nicely.

We recorded the mix at the ZeeZout office in De School using the Rane MP2015 mixer, 2 CDJ’s and 2 Technics. Since it’s a mix for Feel My Bicep we felt like really doing something to show how we would play a set completely filled with what we think is house music. Some tracks are old, some new, some easy and some hard to find but it’s not really about that. It’s more like this is house music to us.

Up to next…

We’re finishing a new remix for Roots for Bloom which is going to be a real dub. We also want to put together and album some day.

We’re going on Tour with ZeeZout again in December. And next to that we have some very nice gigs and festivals confirmed abroad for next year.

This week we hand things over to Dimitri Veimar for number 88 in our mixtape series. As always, we asked him what he’s been up to and what the idea is behind his mix:

Just got back from Bali, I’ve been staying there for 6 months and I did a lot of new tunes. Honestly been missing cloudy capitals such as Berlin or Moscow where I’m living atm.

The mix was recorded at my new #12inchdelay studio, which I’m really proud of because this time I’m lucky with my neighbours. I’ve used some records to complete the mix and ableton to put everything together.

The idea is pretty simple, I’ve made the mix full of tracks that I’m listening to during the day, working or driving the car.

Up to next…

My new EP “Agung” which is out on Turbo next month and a lot of new remixes coming out.

Thanks for having me guys and I hope you dig the mix.

This week’s mixtape contribution comes from none other than Cottam. Having recently released I Can’t Carry On & with more music forthcoming, we caught up with him below to see what else he’s been up to:

Been on a family holiday, crabbing, museums and boat rides. Other than that I haven’t really been up to much. Just been trying to get out and about with the family a bit more. Apart from that, not much apart from drinking too much coffee, making/eating too many flapjacks and watching too many antiques programs.

It’s been the school holidays and I’ve actually purposely backed off from music a bit so I hadn’t had my usual obsessive amount of time fiddling…. so I agonised for a while thinking of what to put on here, had a few unsuccessful practices, then thought sod it, let’s just throw something down. Blinds shut, large mug of coffee, croissant, hit record.

The main idea behind the mix was to not make a hash of it.

Up to next…

Next up I have my 2nd release on FCR which I’m rather excited about. Apart from that I will mainly be doing lego, having Star Wars battles and trying to get up, out and about with family more, get these legs working again.

This week’s mix comes from Slothboogie – the collective of DJs, bloggers, graphic designers, party makers and radio show – who have been creating a buzz in London over the past few years. As always we caught up with them to see what they’ve been up to…

We have been busy getting our label up and running and getting the first SBEDITZ ep finished and ready to rollout to all the finest discotheques. We’ve also been trying to keep up with the mounds of excellent guest mixes and premiere requests coming to us for SlothBoogie.com.

The boys went round to Danny’s studio last Friday with a few cold ones & some very dry sausage rolls?! We got loose while he did the mix on his dusty Dell with a questionable copy of Ableton 7.

Its definitely a game of 2 halves… We wanted to show what SlothBoogie is about and the music we like and promote. So its a condensed hour long night out with us… Earlier warm up vibes and then its heads down as we dig a little deeper.

Up next…

Next up is putting out some pretty exciting content and mixes from some of our biggest names to date, plus locking down the next releases for our Editz and Traxx label. Give us a follow on Bandcamp to stay in the loop…

MAURICE FULTON AT TDC!

Get to know Maurice Fulton’s deeper, darker, funkier and freakier sides. It’s hard to match the quality and quantity of the rhythm masta’. His work has covered a lot of over the years on FMB, but let’s wrap it up!

Javen Souls – Future (Maurice Fulton Remix)

Javen Souls – Future (Maurice Fulton Remix)

Maurice’s lesser known moniker from his earlier days in ’97. Intense rolling beats, showing Maurice’s tougher side. Rough and ready, driving and mind bending.. one for the early hours dancefloor!

Stress – Wet & Sticky

Stress – Wet & Sticky

Just about every angle gets covered by MF’s production scope, like a sniper on crack. This one is from 2001, experimental, jazzed out minimal break beat!

Boof – Outside

Boof – Outside

Reallllllll nice house music here, the proper meaning of deep, heads down music from 2000.

Crystal Waters – Gypsy Woman (Stripped To The Bone Mix)

Crystal Waters – Gypsy Woman (Stripped To The Bone Mix)

Biggest tune of the 90’s award for Maurice! Produced with The Basement Boys, mind blowing.

Mim Suleiman – Maji

Mim Suleiman – Maji

From Mim Suleiman’s album released on Running Back in 2010. MF produced the whole album, this combined with Mim’s unreal vocals and percussion creates an Afro disco biggie!

Syclops – A Lovely Sunday

Syclops – A Lovely Sunday

Best know for the weapon that was Jump Bugs, MF also made a lot of eclectic stuff under this alias in the form of 2 albums and multiple EPs. This mellow piano one, along with ‘5 Out’ were favourites from his 2008 album on DFA.

Ladyvib – A New Day (Maurice Fulton Remix)

Ladyvib – A New Day (Maurice Fulton Remix)

Maurice has the habit of remixing his own work, albeit this track included the help of a percussionist and a trio of horns, its a low slung mellow werkout!

Orphies – Love The Flute (Maurice Fulton Remix)

Orphies – Love The Flute (Maurice Fulton Remix)

Ending on some classic feel good house music under his Orphies guise!

Maurice Fulton is playing Sub Club this Friday for Thunder Disco’s 8th Birthday, get down if you in Scotland!
