This week’s mix comes from Slothboogie – the collective of DJs, bloggers, graphic designers, party makers and radio show – who have been creating a buzz in London over the past few years. As always we caught up with them to see what they’ve been up to…

We have been busy getting our label up and running and getting the first SBEDITZ ep finished and ready to rollout to all the finest discotheques. We’ve also been trying to keep up with the mounds of excellent guest mixes and premiere requests coming to us for SlothBoogie.com.

The boys went round to Danny’s studio last Friday with a few cold ones & some very dry sausage rolls?! We got loose while he did the mix on his dusty Dell with a questionable copy of Ableton 7.

Its definitely a game of 2 halves… We wanted to show what SlothBoogie is about and the music we like and promote. So its a condensed hour long night out with us… Earlier warm up vibes and then its heads down as we dig a little deeper.

Up next…

Next up is putting out some pretty exciting content and mixes from some of our biggest names to date, plus locking down the next releases for our Editz and Traxx label. Give us a follow on Bandcamp to stay in the loop…

MAURICE FULTON AT TDC!

Get to know Maurice Fulton’s deeper, darker, funkier and freakier sides. It’s hard to match the quality and quantity of the rhythm masta’. His work has covered a lot of over the years on FMB, but let’s wrap it up!

Javen Souls – Future (Maurice Fulton Remix)

Javen Souls – Future (Maurice Fulton Remix)

Maurice’s lesser known moniker from his earlier days in ’97. Intense rolling beats, showing Maurice’s tougher side. Rough and ready, driving and mind bending.. one for the early hours dancefloor!

Stress – Wet & Sticky

Stress – Wet & Sticky

Just about every angle gets covered by MF’s production scope, like a sniper on crack. This one is from 2001, experimental, jazzed out minimal break beat!

Boof – Outside

Boof – Outside

Reallllllll nice house music here, the proper meaning of deep, heads down music from 2000.

Crystal Waters – Gypsy Woman (Stripped To The Bone Mix)

Crystal Waters – Gypsy Woman (Stripped To The Bone Mix)

Biggest tune of the 90’s award for Maurice! Produced with The Basement Boys, mind blowing.

Mim Suleiman – Maji

Mim Suleiman – Maji

From Mim Suleiman’s album released on Running Back in 2010. MF produced the whole album, this combined with Mim’s unreal vocals and percussion creates an Afro disco biggie!

Syclops – A Lovely Sunday

Syclops – A Lovely Sunday

Best know for the weapon that was Jump Bugs, MF also made a lot of eclectic stuff under this alias in the form of 2 albums and multiple EPs. This mellow piano one, along with ‘5 Out’ were favourites from his 2008 album on DFA.

Ladyvib – A New Day (Maurice Fulton Remix)

Ladyvib – A New Day (Maurice Fulton Remix)

Maurice has the habit of remixing his own work, albeit this track included the help of a percussionist and a trio of horns, its a low slung mellow werkout!

Orphies – Love The Flute (Maurice Fulton Remix)

Orphies – Love The Flute (Maurice Fulton Remix)

Ending on some classic feel good house music under his Orphies guise!

Maurice Fulton is playing Sub Club this Friday for Thunder Disco’s 8th Birthday, get down if you in Scotland!

We are always on the look out for new talent coming through the ranks and are delighted to invite Supreems to submit a mix to our podcast series. As usual we got in touch to find out what hes been up to:

“Since my debut EP on Lobster Theremin I got to play abroad a few times and on some bigger festivals than I’m used to, which was pretty exciting and inspired me a lot. Highlight definitely being Concrete in Paris. Most unreal 3 hours of my career (life?) so far. I went on a holiday to Lisbon after and I spent most of the summer in my studio working on new music and digging the endless depths of Soundcloud.

At home. I used Ableton to glue together some tracks whose bpm seemed to live a life of their own & two turntables and a cdj.

My record collection has been growing pretty fast in the last few months. I usually don’t keep all records and often sell a batch to the next owner. However, I have one shelf that contains records that are very dear to me and will never leave my collection. Most of the mix is a selection from these records.

Every time you open the newspaper these days it makes you feel like the world is going to shit, so when I was putting together this mix I aimed for a feeling that proves us otherwise :) “

Up next…

“Hammer’s ‘Canna ep’ is definitely one of my favourite releases of the year so far. I’m super chuffed to be part of the Canna Remix ep that is coming out on Loft Records next month. There’s also some new Lobster material in the pipeline and music for other labels that I’m really excited about. It’s been a bit overwhelming at times, the rate at which you receive requests from people who want to work with you, especially when you really like their label. So I decided to focus solely on music for at least a year and see where that takes me, can’t wait.”

FMB MIXTAPE 84 | PHILOU LOUZOLO (320 DOWNLOAD)

A few months back we played at the excellent Modular Festival in Rotterdam.  Philou Louzolo was on warm up, we knew none of the tracks but loved them all and immediately got in touch asking for him to contribute to our podcast series. We can’t wait to see how he develops as an artist and look forward to hear more of his productions. Get to know!

“I’ve been touring and traveling a lot, so I’m actually looking forward to recover and make music again. I started this career three years ago, everything went so fast and this was my first hectic festival season, so it was a bit overwhelming to be honest. I’m looking forward to next year, but I will be more selective about my gigs and stop saying yes to everyone.

At a friend’s place with mostly CDJ’s and a few records and a weird, old two channeled mixer (don’t even remember it’s name).

I prepared a very diverse playlist first, but I started free-styling halfway, this is something that a lot during my sets.

I rarely talk about genres, all music I play has something indescribable in common.”

Up next…

“Trying to get some old productions out (the last track in this mix is one of them.) And create new stuff and also prepare for next year. I will also try to be more active on speaking out against the lack of cultural diversity and cultural appropriation in our industry, whatever the consequences might be for my career, if the scene can’t handle controversial topics, the scene is not for me. I feel blessed to be in a position where I can travel so freely and share special moments with people all over the world, but from my point of view, a lot needs to change in order for me to enjoy my work to the fullest and be able to reach my full potential as an artist.”
